Happy Holidays from Gail

Letter from Gail

Happy Holidays

How many of you remember that at one time I had a Longarm up and running at the old shop?  I was getting sicker and sicker and in May 2008 I finished what turned out to be my last quilt.  In June I was finally diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called sarcoidosis. A giant shelf was built to protect the rails and soon it was full of bolts of fabric.

When we moved it just fit in to the garage downstairs (behind the brown garage doors on the left in the parking lot).  It is an old system probably from 1990 - today's machine have so many bells and whistles .  But I was determined to get it up and running, so Bill from All Sew came and helped me get it up and running.  It was slow going to get back in to loading the frame and doing the loops and star meander.  But is now done, off the frame and will be bound.  Cut the binding 2 1/2 in and as I was sewing it on I remembered that I prefer a 3 in binding when I have a flannel back.  Not changing it now !
When my grandson graduated in June he got a photo of the quilt top and a promise to back it in flannel and get it to him before it got cold.  He will get it when we go out for Christmas Eve so I almost made it

The machine will be used for my quilts, shop samples and my staff can use it.  Busy times ahead.
